A Wine Bar in the Heart of the Clare Valley

Being surrounded by one of Australia’s great wine regions gives us something very special to work with.

The Clare Valley is internationally recognised for its Riesling, but the region offers so much more — from elegant whites and sparkling wines to rosé, Grenache, Shiraz, Cabernet and alternative varieties produced by passionate local winemakers.

At The UPPside, our wine offering celebrates the region we call home.

Our selection has been carefully curated by sommelier Caity Uppill to complement Chef Christian Uppill’s European-inspired food while also giving guests the opportunity to simply sit back and enjoy a glass or bottle of Clare Valley wine in a relaxed setting.

Whether you already know your favourite local producer or would like us to help you discover something new, that sense of exploration is part of the experience.

You don’t need to book in for a full meal.

European hospitality has always understood that good drinks and good food belong together.

Across Europe, some of the most enjoyable food experiences happen over small plates, charcuterie, cheese, bread, pickles and simple dishes shared around the table.

That philosophy fits naturally at The UPPside.

Alongside your drinks, explore a selection of European-inspired bites and grazing options designed for sharing.

It might be something small alongside your first glass, a selection of cheese and accompaniments, European charcuterie, house-made pickles or a few dishes shared amongst friends.

And, of course, if a casual drink develops into something more substantial, our restaurant menu is never far away.

From Clare Valley Wine to European-Inspired Drinks

Wine may be at the centre of our Wine Bar, but it certainly isn’t the end of the story.

The UPPside also produces our own Sip & Savour collection of handcrafted, small-batch European-inspired beverages.

Drawing inspiration from some of Europe’s best-known drinking traditions, the range includes favourites such as Italian Limoncello, Polish-inspired Vodka, Polish Krupnik and Spanish Sangria, alongside refreshing non-alcoholic creations.

It’s another expression of what The UPPside is all about — taking inspiration from Europe and creating something distinctly our own here in the Clare Valley.

Gin & Gelato – Something a Little Different

Looking for a tasting experience beyond wine?

Our Gin & Gelato Experience brings together locally handcrafted gin from our friends at Sawmill Gin in Sevenhill with refreshing sorbet.

Three gins are matched with three different flavours:

Gypsy Gin + Blood Orange Sorbet

Mr Wriggles Gin + Passionfruit Sorbet

Sebastopol Gin + Lemon Sorbet

Served with Mediterranean tonic, water and tasting notes, it’s an interactive and playful way to explore local gin — and a great addition to an afternoon at The UPPside.

There is something about enjoying a glass of wine overlooking vines that reminds you exactly where you are.

Our location in Penwortham, Clare Valley gives The UPPside a relaxed country atmosphere that is an important part of the experience.

The deck is a wonderful place to settle in, particularly when the weather is kind.

There is no need to rush.
